Currently, 92% of Miller Elementary students qualify for free or reduced lunch, and many of their families struggle daily to make ends meet. Life is hard for them, but going into the school to volunteer is a simple way we can make a direct, tangible difference.

Whether you can commit to an hour a week or a few hours a month, the children love having caring adults spend time with them, and your presence is a massive blessing to the hardworking staff.

We have serving opportunities available to fit any schedule or interest. Within the school, you can help in individual classrooms, assist in the library, supervise lunch or recess, serve as a MakerSpace helper, or become a student mentor. We also need people for our food ministries to serve as a substitute for our weekend food backpack ministry, or to help prep and serve food for our bi-monthly Miller family night meals.

Stepping outside of your normal routine to serve will help you grow closer to God. As you reach out to others, you will learn more about yourself, grow in compassion, and become part of something bigger than yourself.

Our most immediate need is for the upcoming Meet the Teacher reception on Monday, August 3. We are hosting a warm welcome for the families and need 80 dozen cookies to serve everyone who attends. We are looking for homemade bakery-style cookies, the kind found at grocery store bakeries, Walmart, or Sam's Club. Please bring your cookie donations to the church on Sunday, August 2, so they stay fresh for the event.
