WORSHIP WITH US THIS SUNDAY!! – 10:30 am in-person, on our Worship page, or on YouTube. We hope to see you there!
Our tradition here at The Grove Covenant Church is to have our children’s and middle school youth ministry help lead a service of worship during Advent by presenting a fun and creative way to share the story of Christmas. Like Christians throughout history, we revisit this story to be reminded of the incredible gift God gave us in sending his son Jesus and to show us the full and complete life that is intended for us. As we remember this important story, the hope and peace from the first Christmas continues to become a part of our present lives and carries us into a new year together.
This special Christmas Program worship service will be on Sunday, December 15. All are invited and encouraged to attend and bring friends and family to come and see an original Nativity Story skit and musical called “Glory to the Light.” The kids and students have been preparing several songs to share and a fun story to help us remember and revisit the meaning of Christmas. It is not a performance or a “Christmas pageant”, as we do not invite the kids to be performers for OUR benefit. Instead, we invite them to help lead our worship together, as we ALL engage in the Christmas story as a church community.
And to get you excited, here is a quick synopsis of the original Nativity story skit and musical- “Glory to the Light”:
“Everyone’s dropping out! This year’s Nativity production is on the verge of being cancelled, as the production’s Director (Emma Hatke) finds out about yet another cast member that is not going to be able to make the performance… and there is only one week left. The only cast that remain are the three shepherds (Grace Stanfield, Hannah Wiley, and Joshua Mueller), but they are determined that the show must go on! Can they find a backup cast? And can they prevent anything else from going wrong?”
We hope you will join us for this special service this coming Sunday at our normal 10:30am worship service time. It will be a shortened service, as we will also have a reception with treats and drinks in the lobby after, where we hope you will have time to share with the kids and with one another.
For those of you with kids in the program, all of our singers should be at church on Sunday morning by 9 a.m. Our cast members' rehearse on Saturday morning, and they should arrive by 8:30 a.m. on Sunday for costumes.
We look forward to sharing this time of worship and reflection with you this Advent season!
