Miller Elementary Pancake Breakfast and Spring Carnival

2026-3-31 | Ronda Ooms

Galatians 5:13c … "through love serve one another.”

The Grove has been partnering for 19 years with staff from Miller Elementary School and Bauer Community Center! One of my favorite things that we do is the Spring Carnival and Pancake Breakfast. It’s always well attended by Miller families, and we always have a wonderful team of volunteers from our church!

This year, the event will be on Saturday, April 11, from 9:30 to 11 AM at Miller Elementary School. John Young of Jeffersonville, Indiana

brings his Chris Cakes business to the school and the kids (and adults) have so much fun as he throws them pancakes to catch on their plates.

Here’s a short video to give you an idea of how John makes it so much fun!

The breakfast is all you can eat and volunteers from The Grove are welcome to partake!

Why should I serve/volunteer? Service is a part of who we are as Christians. Presence is one of our Touchstones here at The Grove. We

volunteer to follow Jesus’ example of service, to share our gifts, and to share God’s love with others. Serving is an expression of gratitude and helps us build community, grow in our faith, and serve God’s people from all walks of life. Volunteering is a “joyful obligation” and a way of life that reflects God’s nature. We are blessed to serve at Miller Elementary School, knowing that God has called us there.

Games are in the school gym, and we try to have at least 10 different ones if possible. We can do that with your help! The Miller students and their families have so much fun and so do our volunteers! We have many adults who sign up to help and this is also a great way for families from The Grove to serve together. We have parents with several children who split up and run two different games, or allow their children to play games and eat breakfast, and then go and take the place of the family member who is running a game. Some volunteers commit to the entire time of running the games while some sign up for one shift. It’s totally up to you!

Volunteering as a family is a great way to help your child(ren) see how important it is to serve others. As a parent, this is a great time to explain how God wants each of us to love others. Verses you may want to read with your children are Matthew 22:37-39, Mark 12:30-31, John 13:34-35, and 1 John 4:11.

One of my favorite parts is the smiles and laughter that I see and hear from everyone who comes to this fun event! If you would like to sign up as an individual or a family, you can sign up here. It would be wonderful to have ALL of our spots filled by April 6! If you have any questions, please email me at rooms@thegrovecov.church. I’m looking forward to serving with you and seeing the joy that this event brings!
