WORSHIP WITH US THIS SUNDAY!! – 10:30 am in-person, on our Worship page, or on YouTube. We hope to see you there!
As part of the ECC Men’s ministry, I would like to invite the men of ECC to consider joining a Restoring Your Heart group this fall that I will be leading. Restoring Your Heart is a 20 week program, starting with 4 weeks learning How Emotional Problems Develop. This will be followed by 16 weeks learning about Processing Pain. We will be meeting weekly, starting later in September, and will end in the Spring. The day of the week and time will be worked out based on the availability of who signs up. This is a small group of men that commit to confidentiality and transparency with each other. There will be homework each week that you will want to do to gain the most benefit from the program.
Why would you want to invest 20 evenings of your life to this program? To quote a passage from the first workbook,
“We all live in a fallen world and we all have a problem with sin. We all are wounded in some way. We grow up in imperfect homes and have dealt with things in our lives imperfectly. In addition, there is often little permission in the world or in the church to admit that our wounds exist, and little teaching about how to deal with them.
The degree to which we have been wounded can be looked at on a continuum. No one is 100 percent wounded. They would be dead. And no one is zero percent wounded. People who are in the more wounded range are just surviving. People who are in the less wounded range are coping fairly well with life, but have some issues they need to address.”
Everyone can benefit from identifying and working on areas of their life that have been negatively impacted by unprocessed pain or needs.
Transformation, which is one of our ECC Touchstones, involves at least two parts. One part is to build a relationship with Christ and learn how to minister with Him. But a second, and often missing part, is to deal with the damage of our past, which has occurred because of our own sinful choices and the sinful choices of others. We will walk together through pain that we have experienced and learn to grieve it in a safe environment with a small group of men.
I have been through the Restoring Your Heart course on Processing Pain twice and have benefitted greatly in my personal walk with God and with others. I have experienced healing and restoration in relationships with 2 members of my family based on this course. I have also become more aware of my own emotions and find life is fuller as I more fully experience the joys and sorrows of life.
I urge you to consider joining me on this difficult and profitable journey of growing in your ability to process the pain you have experienced. Please go to the button below to express interest in joining this group. Or you can reach out to me with any questions you have.
